Sasha Allen The openly transgender female transgender singer who made it onto the Live Shows on the Voice was a landmark the moment they reached it. It was the first time within the 21 years of Vocal competitions Sasha was able to get past the Battle Rounds. This time, the pair who hail from Newtown, Conn., have taken the show one step closer to making it to the top 8! Sasha declared that he's transgender when the audition packet was presented during the Blind Auditions. According to Parade.com they said this wasn't a decision that was made in a hurry. "That was a difficult decision because you are showing a very exposed part of you to millions and millions of people," said Sasha, who transitioned while he was at high school. This past week, during fans week, witnessing the emotion of people, their reactions and the way it affected them was worth it. The Voice wasn't even around when we first played the song. We were thrilled at the time we received it. It was a song we knew and we had thoughts of how to set it up. "I was pleasantly surprised at how the crowds nailed the tune."
