Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell was a television personality, a former chef of the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on the Food Network. Ann Burrell's Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant chef, with her trademark spikey blonde locks and pump up personality, explains easy techniques anybody can learn. Chef Burrell is also a seasoned veteran of New York City's best restaurants. She also has studied Italy's culinary tradition and the culture of Italy, as well as the landscape. Early on, while living in the the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the catalyst for her passion for managing restaurants when she received the English and Communications degree from Canisius College Buffalo NY. The Culinary Institute of America was an unforgettable opportunity for me. I was never able to study or accomplish enough. After graduating, Burrell worked at La Bottega del 30 in Tuscany as well as La Taverna del Lupo (in Umbria) while attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. In Italy, Chef Burrell acquired an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian food. It had a significant impact on how she views food. Burrell is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board which brightens the lives of struggling children. Burrell is also an Juvenile diabetes Research Foundation Celebrity Advocate, where she promotes awareness of the condition of children with diabetes. Burrell is often a guest to speak at conferences and tours across the nation as part of her mentorship task. Anne said she felt lucky that I could be able to share her passion for cooking with the people around her.
